Amy Jo Martin is an entrepreneur known for many things. Not only the Founder and CEO of her own social media consultancy, Digital Royalty, she can also tick best-selling author, keynote speaker, podcast host, Twitter celebrity and businesswoman to her impressive resumé.
Amy Jo’s career began at an advertising agency, but it was her role as Director of Digital Media and Research for the Phoenix Suns NBA team where she became an early adopter of social media and started her rapid trajectory to success.
In the early and unbridled days of social media, Amy Jo stood out from the crowd with an attitude that was then considered radical – to humanize the online presence of brands online. Her moto: “humans connect with humans, not logos”.
It was this approach that saw Amy Jo emerge as a social guru, shaping how numerous NBA teams integrate social media, and helping to build the profile of some of her superstar clients. This includes basketball player Shaquille O’Neal and Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
Amy Jo’s position as an innovator opened the door to many other opportunities.
In 2012 she became a New York Times bestselling author with her book on celebrity social media strategies, Renegades Write the Rules.
Since then, Amy Jo has also embarked on a prolific career as an inspirational public speaker and educator, as well as the host of her own Why Not Now? podcast.
